Transcript of remarks by CS (with video)
****************************************
Following is the transcript of remarks by the Chief Secretary for Administration, Mr Matthew Cheung Kin-chung, at a media session after attending a festive gathering with elderly organised by HK Federation of Trade Unions today (January 16).

Chief Secretary for Administration: (as part of the reply in response to a media question in Chinese about his term of service as the Chief Secretary for Administration) I'm very grateful to the Chief Executive for nominating me and also for the Central People's Government appointing me as the Chief Secretary for Administration. I see this as a huge privilege, honour. At the same time, the job itself is highly and hugely challenging. My priority in the next few months will be, first of all, to follow up and implement the various recommendations and proposals affecting livelihood, the economy and society, arising from the forthcoming Policy Address to be announced on Wednesday. This will be a very important document laying out the blueprint for our future. Secondly, of course, I will work in close concert with all political appointees and as well as the entire civil service to help the Chief Executive to ensure the effective administration of the Hong Kong SAR, and at the same time to ensure a smooth transition from the current term to the next-term Government.

I will also chair the steering committee organising activities to mark the 20th anniversary of the establishment of the Hong Kong SAR. This is a very important landmark in Hong Kong's history. I will certainly ensure that we put up a good programme to enable Hong Kong people to share the joy and the pride of our success over the last 20 years. Finally, of course, I will work closely with the Legislative Council (LegCo) and all sectors of the community to build rapport and also to ensure that all our policy initiatives can be passed by LegCo smoothly for the benefit of our entire community.
