Transcript of remarks by SLW on retirement protection
*****************************************************

Following is the transcript of remarks by the Secretary for Labour and Welfare, Mr Matthew Cheung Kin-chung, on retirement protection before attending the Recognition Ceremony for 2016 Mental Health Month today (January 7):

Reporter: Regarding the retirement protection scheme, this morning Dr C K Law said maybe there is some adjustment on the Old Age Living Allowance so that the amount will increase, do you think that these comments are relevant to what is going to be proposed later?

Secretary for Labour and Welfare: The Chief Executive will announce a package of measures on retirement protection and also on MPF offsetting in his coming Policy Address on January 18, we've got to be patient. In the meantime, we are not in a position to comment on any speculation, any further report in the media or in the public arena. But I want to stress a fact that the current term administration is determined to provide a holistic picture on the way forward on both retirement protection and also on the question of offsetting under MPF.
