Fatal traffic accident in Cheung Sha Wan

     Police are investigating a fatal traffic accident in Cheung Sha Wan this morning (December 30) in which a 23-year-old man died.

     At about 10.47am, a light goods vehicle (LGV) driven by a 26-year-old man was travelling along Ching Cheung Road eastbound. When approaching the Caritas Medical Centre, it reportedly collided with a stationary bus.

     The 23-year-old LGV passenger was trapped inside the compartment and rescued by firemen. Sustaining multiple injuries, he was rushed to Princess Margaret Hospital in unconscious state and was certified dead at 11.49am. The LGV driver and two female passengers of the bus, aged 66 and 57, were sent to Princess Margaret Hospital in conscious state.

     The LGV driver was arrested for dangerous driving causing death. He is being detained for enquiries.

     Investigation by the Special Investigation Team of Traffic, Kowloon West is underway.
