The Environmental Protection Department (EPD) today (December 30) released the 2014 greenhouse gas (GHG) inventory for Hong Kong.

     Hong Kong's total GHG emissions in 2014 amounted to 44.9 million tonnes of carbon dioxide equivalent. The per capita GHG emission was the same as that of 2013 (i.e. 6.2 tonnes). Electricity generation remained the major source of emissions, amounting to 31.2 million tonnes or 69.6 per cent of the total. Other major emission sources were the transport sector (16.4 per cent) and waste management (5.4 per cent).
