Re-appointment of Executive Director of MPFA

      The Acting Financial Secretary, in exercise of the authority delegated to him by the Chief Executive under the Mandatory Provident Fund Schemes Ordinance (Cap 485) (MPFSO), has re-appointed Ms Cynthia Hui Wai-yee as an Executive Director of the Mandatory Provident Fund Schemes Authority (MPFA), holding the post of Executive Director (Supervision). Ms Hui is re-appointed for a term of three years, from February 1, 2017 to January 31, 2020.

      Announcing the appointment, a Government spokesman said, "Ms Hui has contributed positively to the work of the MPFA, including supervising the operation of the Mandatory Provident Fund (MPF) industry and pursuing measures to enhance the efficiency of the MPF System. We trust that Ms Hui will continue to sustain the momentum of change in respect of the MPF System with a view to promoting the interests of scheme members."

      The MPFA is a statutory body established in September 1998 under the MPFSO. The MPF System commenced operation in December 2000, with the objective of assisting the working population to accumulate retirement savings. As at end-September 2016, the MPF System covered more than 2.8 million scheme members with a total net asset value of more than $655 billion.
