Correctional Services Department launches operation to prevent group fight among persons in custody
     The Correctional Services Department (CSD) today (December 23) launched an operation at Hei Ling Chau Correctional Institution to prevent a group fight among persons in custody.

     Intelligence received by the institutional management of Hei Ling Chau Correctional Institution revealed that some persons in custody had attempted to incite other persons in custody to engage in a group fight during the Christmas holidays. Following assessment and detailed planning, the department today deployed reinforcement to conduct search operations on targeted locations and persons in custody, with a view to preventing all illicit activities at an early stage.

     At the moment, eight persons in custody suspected to have been involved in the illicit activity have been removed from association and are under investigation. Four of them have been transferred to other institutions today.

     In order to assist persons in custody to rehabilitate in a safe and orderly environment, the CSD spares no effort in combating illicit activities of any kind in its institutions.

     Hei Ling Chau Correctional Institution is a medium security prison for the detention of male adult persons in custody who have records of repeated imprisonment.
