Appointment of Hong Kong, China's representatives to ABAC

     The Government today (December 23) announced the re-appointment of the Director of Jardine Matheson Holdings Limited, Mr Anthony Nightingale, as Hong Kong, China's (HKC's) representative to the Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation (APEC) Business Advisory Council (ABAC) until the end of 2017. The Government also re-appointed the Chairman of Lan Kwai Fong Group, Dr Allan Zeman, and the Chairman of Sunwah Group, Dr Jonathan Choi, as HKC's representatives to ABAC until the end of 2018. The Chairman and Managing Director of Wheelock and Company Limited, Mr Douglas Woo, was reappointed as HKC's alternate representative to ABAC until the end of 2018.

     The Secretary for Commerce and Economic Development, Mr Gregory So, spoke highly of the services rendered by Mr Nightingale, Dr Zeman, Dr Choi and Mr Woo.

     "We are grateful to Mr Nightingale, Dr Zeman, Dr Choi and Mr Woo for their contributions to ABAC. I am sure their wealth of business experience will inject further impetus into the work of ABAC," Mr So said.

     ABAC was established in 1996 as a permanent business advisory body to provide advice to APEC on business sector priorities. Hong Kong, China has appointed three representatives and two alternate representatives to ABAC. The other incumbent alternate representative is the Executive Vice-Chairman and Joint General Manager of New World Development Company Limited, Dr Adrian Cheng.
