Fatal traffic accident in Kwai Chung

     Police are investigating a fatal traffic accident in Kwai Chung last night (December 19) in which a 49-year-old man died.

     At about 10.52pm yesterday, a taxi driven by a 48-year-old man was travelling along Castle Peak Road - Kwai Chung towards Tsuen Wan. When approaching Yip Shing Street, it reportedly knocked down a 49-year-old man who was crossing the road.

     Sustaining serious head injuries, the man was rushed to Yan Chai Hospital in unconscious state and was then transferred to Princess Margaret Hospital for medical treatment. He was certified dead at 1.25am today (December 20).

     The taxi driver was arrested for dangerous driving causing death and is being detained for further enquiries.

     Investigation by the Special Investigation Team of Traffic, New Territories South is underway.
