Hong Kong ICT Awards 2017 invites enrolment

     The Hong Kong ICT Awards (HKICTA) 2017 is open for enrolment from today (December 19). Innovative information and communications technology (ICT) products, applications and solutions developed in Hong Kong are invited to compete for the top accolades in eight categories.

     The HKICTA aims at recognising and promoting outstanding ICT inventions and applications, thereby encouraging constant pursuit of innovation and excellence among Hong Kong's ICT talents and enterprises for better and more creative solutions to meet business and social needs.

     Steered by the Office of the Government Chief Information Officer, the HKICTA 2017 is organised by eight local industry associations and professional bodies selected through a competitive exercise.

     The Government Chief Information Officer and Chairman of the Steering Committee, Mr Allen Yeung, said, "ICT offers vast development potential. It covers a wide range of areas that can enhance the quality of living and increase business efficiency to maintain Hong Kong's competitiveness."

     Mr Yeung added, "Established for over 10 years, the HKICTA fosters innovations among students, start-ups, SMEs and corporations in many domains of ICT applications. Some of the award winners were also recognised in regional and international ICT awards. This demonstrates the strong capability and innovativeness of Hong Kong."

     The eight categories of the HKICTA 2017 and their leading organisers are:

Best Business Solution Award - Hong Kong Computer Society
Best Digital Entertainment Award - Hong Kong Digital Entertainment Association
Best FinTech Award - The Hong Kong Institute of Bankers
Best ICT Startup Award - Hong Kong Business Angel Network
Best Lifestyle Award - Hong Kong Information Technology Federation
Best Mobile Apps Award - Hong Kong Wireless Technology Industry Association
Best Smart Hong Kong Award - GS1 Hong Kong
Best Student Invention Award - Hong Kong New Emerging Technology Education Association

     There will be one Grand Award in each category. A Grand Adjudication Panel led by the President and Vice-Chancellor of Hong Kong Baptist University, Professor Roland Chin, will select the Award of the Year from the eight Grand Awards. Enrolment in the HKICTA 2017 will close on January 20, 2017.
