CAS holds 77th Recruits Passing-out Parade (with photos)

     The Civil Aid Service (CAS) held the 77th Recruits Passing-out Parade at its headquarters today (December 18). The Chief Staff Officer and Deputy Commissioner (Operations) of the CAS, Mr Lam Kwok-wah, who will retire this year, was the Reviewing Officer of the parade.

     The CAS Recruit Training Certificate Programme has been accredited by the Hong Kong Council for Accreditation of Academic and Vocational Qualifications under the Hong Kong Qualifications Framework at Level 3. This year's graduates, comprising 23 officer cadets and 185 recruits, are the first to be awarded the Certificate in Auxiliary Forces Basic Training (Civil Defence).

     Mr Lam presented the outstanding recruit awards to two officer cadets and seven recruit members. A number of new CAS members also gave a demonstration of rescue techniques as well as vegetation firefighting and casualty handling skills they learned from the induction training course. An outstanding officer cadet, with his wife and son who are also CAS members, and two outstanding recruits shared their mission and expectations in regard to the CAS during a media interview session.

     In addition, the Assistant Commissioner (Training & Development) of the CAS, Mr Fung Kam-man, announced that the CAS recruitment exercise for 2017 has started. A total of 300 members will be recruited and the deadline for application is January 31, 2017. Details and the application form can be obtained from the CAS website at www.cas.gov.hk.
