The Sales of First-hand Residential Properties Authority (the SRPA) will stage the first roving exhibition to promote the Residential Properties (First-hand Sales) Ordinance (the Ordinance) at nine locations across Hong Kong Island, Kowloon and New Territories from December 2016 to March 2017.
 
     The SRPA aims to enhance public awareness of the Ordinance and foster understanding among the general public of the protection brought about by the Ordinance to purchasers of first-hand residential properties.  
 
     The Ordinance, which commenced full operation on April 29, 2013, aims to enhance the transparency and fairness of the sale of first-hand residential properties, strengthen consumer protection, and provide a level playing field for vendors of first-hand residential properties. The Ordinance sets out detailed requirements in relation to sales brochures, price lists, sales arrangements, register of transactions, show flats, viewing of completed residential properties, advertisements, and the mandatory provisions for the preliminary agreement for sale and purchase and agreement for sale and purchase for the sales of first-hand residential properties. It also provides for prohibitions against misrepresentation and the dissemination of false or misleading information.
 
     The exhibition will showcase the cultural change in the sale of first-hand residential properties since the implementation of the Ordinance, the protection brought to purchasers of first-hand residential properties and points to note for purchasers. Publicity videos on the Ordinance will be shown during the exhibition. There will also be a quiz game and souvenirs will be distributed to participants.
 
     Admission is free. The first phase of the roving exhibition will be held from December 2016 to January 2017 in five locations. Details are as follows:

     The second phase of the roving exhibition will be held from February to March 2017 in West Kowloon, Tsuen Wan, Tuen Mun and Causeway Bay. Details will be announced later.
