Fatal traffic accident in Cheung Sha Wan

     Police are investigating a fatal traffic accident in Cheung Sha Wan in the small hours of today (December 10) in which a 51-year-old man died.

     At about 3.30am, a light goods vehicle (LGV) driven by a 21-year-old man was travelling along Container Port Road South towards Mei Foo. When approaching Ching Cheung Road, it reportedly collided with a stationary LGV. Then the stationary LGV reportedly knocked down a 51-year-old male LGV driver who was standing in front of it.

     The 51-year-old driver was trapped under his LGV and rescued by firemen. Sustaining multiple injuries, he was certified dead at scene. The 21-year-old driver was trapped inside his LGV compartment and rescued by firemen. He was sent to Princess Margaret Hospital in conscious state.    

     The 21-year-old driver was arrested for dangerous driving causing death. He is being detained for enquiries.

     Investigation by the Special Investigation Team of Traffic, Kowloon West is underway.
