STH to lead logistics delegation to Vietnam and Thailand

     The Secretary for Transport and Housing, Professor Anthony Cheung Bing-leung, will depart on Monday morning (December 12) to visit Vietnam and Thailand. He will lead a logistics delegation to promote Hong Kong as a premier logistics hub in the region.

     During his visit to Vietnam, Professor Cheung will call on the Deputy Minister of Transport of Vietnam, Mr Nguyen Nhat, and the Deputy Minister of Industry and Trade, Mr Tran Quoc Khanh, in Hanoi. In Ho Chi Minh City, Professor Cheung and the delegation will visit an air cargo terminal located at Tan Son Nhat International Airport to learn about its cargo handling facilities and operations. They will also attend a seminar co-organised by the Hong Kong Trade Development Council and the Hong Kong Economic and Trade Office in Singapore, where Professor Cheung will introduce Hong Kong's strengths in logistics, aviation and maritime to members of the local business sector.

     Professor Cheung will meet with the Minister of Transport, Mr Arkhom Termpittayapaisith, in Bangkok, Thailand. He and the delegation will also attend a lunch seminar with representatives of the logistics industry, where he will speak on the development of the industry.

     Professor Cheung will return to Hong Kong on December 15. During his absence, the Under Secretary for Transport and Housing, Mr Yau Shing-mu, will be the Acting Secretary for Transport and Housing.
