SED to attend meeting of China-UK High-Level People-to-People Dialogue in Shanghai

     The Secretary for Education (SED), Mr Eddie Ng Hak-kim, as invited by the Ministry of Education, will leave Hong Kong for Shanghai to attend the fourth meeting of the China-UK High-Level People-to-People Dialogue next Tuesday (December 6).

     Since its inception in 2012, the mechanism has served as a people-to-people exchange platform for the two countries to strengthen co-operation in the areas of education, science and technology, culture, media, sports, youth, health, tourism and local affairs. The Chinese Secretariat of the mechanism was established in the Ministry of Education.

     Representing China and the United Kingdom to co-chair the fourth meeting will be the Vice-Premier of the State Council, Madam Liu Yandong, and the Secretary of State for Health, Mr Jeremy Hunt. Other senior officials will also be present, including the Minister of Education, Mr Chen Baosheng, and the Vice Minister of Education, Dr Hao Ping.

     Accompanying Mr Ng to attend the meeting will be the Administrative Assistant to the SED, Mr Edward Yu. They will return to Hong Kong at around noon on December 7.

     During Mr Ng's absence, the Under Secretary for Education, Mr Kevin Yeung, will be the Acting SED.
