Yuen Chau Kok Sports Centre to open on December 12 (with photos)

      The Yuen Chau Kok Sports Centre will open for public use on December 12 (Monday). Situated at the low block of the Yuen Chau Kok Complex, it is the sixth indoor sports centre managed by the Leisure and Cultural Services Department (LCSD) in Sha Tin District.

     The new sports centre features the district's first indoor bowling green, with four rinks for the public to enjoy the fun of playing lawn bowls in any weather. The sports centre also has a 14-metre-high outdoor climbing wall with four lanes for different levels of climbing difficulty, giving lovers of rock climbing the opportunity to practice their skills.

     Other facilities include a multi-purpose arena that can be used as two basketball courts, two volleyball courts or eight badminton courts; two multi-purpose activity rooms; one fitness room; one table-tennis room with six table-tennis tables and a children's play room.

     In addition, the students' study room of the Yuen Chau Kok Public Library at the high block of the complex will open on December 22 (Thursday). The public library is expected to commence services next year.

     The complex is located at 35 Ngan Shing Street, Sha Tin and is easily accessible from the nearby City One MTR Station on the Ma On Shan Line. The opening hours of the sports centre are from 7am to 11pm daily, except on the first and third Thursday of every month when it will be closed from 7am to 1pm for regular maintenance.

     Members of the public can book the facilities of the sports centre from tomorrow (December 3) via the Leisure Link computerised booking system, booking counters, self-service kiosk, or by telephone reservation through the telephone services centre in accordance with LCSD's booking procedure for leisure and sports facilities. For enquiries, please call the venue staff at 2509 9108.
