CSSA caseload for October

     The overall Comprehensive Social Security Assistance (CSSA) caseload in October showed a drop of 716 cases, representing a decrease of 0.3 per cent compared with that of September, according to the latest CSSA caseload statistics released by the Social Welfare Department today (November 23).

     The total CSSA caseload at the end of October stood at 238 836 (see attached table), with a total of 350 279 recipients.

     Analysed by case nature, low-earnings cases registered a month-to-month decrease of 2.1 per cent to 5 400 cases. Unemployment cases and single parent cases also dropped by 1.1 per cent and 0.8 per cent to 14 825 cases and 27 326 cases respectively. Ill health cases, permanent disability cases and old age cases all showed a decrease of 0.1 per cent to 24 320 cases, 17 645 cases and 144 883 cases respectively.
