Contractor fined for violation of safety legislation

     Vibro (HK) Limited was fined $38,000 at Eastern Magistrates’ Courts today (November 22) for violation of the Factories and Industrial Undertakings Ordinance, the Construction Sites (Safety) Regulations and the Factories and Industrial Undertakings (Safety Management) Regulation. The prosecutions were launched by the Labour Department.
 
     The case involved a fatal accident that occurred on August 7, 2015, at a construction site in Wan Chai. Two workers were working on a metal working platform to dismantle a metal structure when the working platform suddenly collapsed. The two workers fell about 5 metres to the ground and sustained serious bodily injuries. One of them subsequently passed away.
