The Police will conduct a six-day territory-wide operation starting from tomorrow (November 23) to November 28 to combat illegal parking and offences which obstruct traffic flow.
Stringent enforcement action will be taken during the operation. The Police will issue summons to drivers in relation to illegal parking, particularly double parking, illegal loading, unloading, picking-up, alighting activities and stopping or waiting at restricted zones.
A Police spokesman said that the Police would issue multiple tickets and take summons action against drivers who blatantly contravened illegal parking regulations, obstructed traffic flow or endangered other road users. Illegally parked vehicles would be towed away if necessary.
Police figures showed that a total of 1,165,779 fixed penalty tickets against parking offences were issued from January to September in 2016, an increase of 21 per cent compared with the same period of last year.
The Police will continue to strengthen publicity and education for road users in complying with traffic regulations, with a view to avoiding traffic accidents and maintaining smooth traffic flow.
