SCED attends APEC Ministerial Meeting in Peru (with photos)

     The Secretary for Commerce and Economic Development, Mr Gregory So, attended the 28th Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation (APEC) Ministerial Meeting (AMM) in Lima, Peru today (November 17, Lima time).

     Mr So attended the AMM opening session in the morning before participating in the plenary session on "Advancing Regional Economic Integration and Quality Growth". He said Hong Kong looks forward to the constructive dialogue among member economies on various initiatives which would steer the future path to achieve the ultimate goal of free and open trade and investment, in particular the ongoing discussion on the realisation of the Free Trade Area of Asia-Pacific.

     Mr So also shared Hong Kong's experience at the plenary session on "Promoting the Modernization of MSMEs (Micro, Small & Medium Enterprises) in the Asia-Pacific", noting the assistance, such as the necessary infrastructure and funding schemes, provided by the Government and public organisations to nuture MSMEs.

     On the sidelines of the AMM, Mr So held bilateral meetings with the trade ministers of various member economies to foster trade and economic relations with the economies.

     Mr So will continue to attend the AMM and meet with the trade ministers of other member economies on November 18 (Lima time).
