SFST to attend 8th World Chinese Economic Summit in Malaysia

     The Secretary for Financial Services and the Treasury, Professor K C Chan, will leave for Malaysia tomorrow (November 16) to attend the 8th World Chinese Economic Summit to be held in Malacca on the next day (November 17), during which he will deliver a keynote speech at a special session on "Europe-China-ASEAN Partnership".

     The World Chinese Economic Summit is held annually to enhance connectivity and business linkages between China and Southeast Asia and China and Europe, aiming to strengthen regional economic co-operation and trade and investment facilitation.

     During the visit in Malaysia, Professor Chan will meet with prominent figures in financial institutions and the banking sector. He will update them on Hong Kong's latest developments and exchange views on issues of mutual interest, including financial co-operation and economic prospects in the region.

     Professor Chan will return to Hong Kong in the afternoon on November 18.
