Public alerted to suspected fraudulent activities related to Wang Fat Insurance Broker Limited

The public should be aware that Wang Fat is not an authorised insurer under the Insurance Companies Ordinance (Cap. 41), nor an appointed insurance agent or authorised insurance broker.
If members of the public have purchased motor insurance policies arranged by Wang Fat, they should report it to the Hong Kong Police Force, which has taken up the matter for further investigation, or contact the Commercial Crime Bureau of the Hong Kong Police Force at 2860 5012 or any local police station.
Any company conducting insurance business in or from Hong Kong must be authorised by the Insurance Authority under the Insurance Companies Ordinance (Cap. 41). Any person advising on or arranging insurance contracts, including motor insurance, in or from Hong Kong, must either be an appointed insurance agent registered with the Insurance Agents Registration Board (IARB), or an authorised insurance broker registered with the Hong Kong Confederation of Insurance Brokers (CIB) or the Professional Insurance Brokers Association (PIBA).
