Fanling South Public Library officially opens (with photos)

In his opening remarks, Mr Lau said that North District has a population of more than 300,000 and the opening of Fanling South Public Library not only meets the increasing demand of district residents for library services and facilities, but also demonstrates the Government's determination to build a quality living environment for residents.
The new library is located at Shops G15 and G16, Dawning Views Shopping Plaza, 23 Yat Ming Road, Fanling. It is a small library with an area of about 550 square metres. Facilities and services, available since late August, include an Adult Library, a Children's Library, a Newspapers and Periodicals Section, an Extension Activities Room, Internet and Digital Service Workstations, Kids' Internet and Digital Service Workstations, an express check-in service and a self-service borrowing and renewal service.
The library collection comprises about 50,000 items including Chinese and English books for adults and children, reference books such as encyclopedias and dictionaries, and compact discs. About 100 local and overseas newspapers and periodical titles are also available for readers.
In addition, the library will organise extension activities such as book displays, storytelling for children and user education sessions to promote reading on a regular basis. Schools and members of cultural and educational organisations are invited to contact the library to arrange group visits to learn more about the library's facilities and services.
Fanling South Public Library is open from 9am to 8pm from Tuesdays to Fridays, from 9am to 5pm on Saturdays, and from 9am to 1pm on Sundays and public holidays. It is closed on Mondays.
