SED to attend OECD international education symposium in Beijing
***************************************************************
The Secretary for Education (SED), Mr Eddie Ng Hak-kim, will leave Hong Kong for Beijing next Thursday (November 10) to attend an international education symposium organised by the Organisation for Economic Co-operation and Development (OECD).

To be held at Tsinghua University on November 10 and 11, the Beijing International Symposium aims to stimulate discussion among the world's leading educators, policymakers and system leaders on the future development of education and skills. Mr Ng was invited by OECD to join the Symposium, at which participants will identify emerging trends, opportunities and challenges in global education, and discuss what young people should learn for 2030.

In addition, the Symposium will also be an opportunity to explore how the OECD can help bring the 2030 world into being, and to link the OECD's work to key education initiatives and networks around the world.

Accompanying Mr Ng to attend the Symposium will be the Deputy Secretary for Education, Dr Catherine K K Chan. They will return to Hong Kong in the evening on November 11. During Mr Ng's absence, the Under Secretary for Education, Mr Kevin Yeung, will be the Acting SED.
