SFST to visit Australia

     The Secretary for Financial Services and the Treasury, Professor K C Chan, will depart Hong Kong on Sunday (November 6) for a duty visit to Melbourne, Canberra and Sydney to foster Hong Kong's ties with Australia and promote financial co-operation.
 
     Professor Chan will first visit Melbourne, where he will meet with prominent figures in the banking sector and the Australian Future Fund to exchange views on financial issues of mutual interest. He will also join other Board members of the MTR Corporation Limited to conduct site visits to inspect MTR's railway business in Melbourne.
 
     On November 9 in Canberra, Professor Chan will have separate meetings with the Australian Treasurer, the Minister for Revenue and Financial Services and the Shadow Treasurer. He will also pay a courtesy call on the Ambassador of the People's Republic of China to the Commonwealth of Australia.
 
     On November 10 in Sydney, Professor Chan will visit the Australian Stock Exchange to learn about its Fintech applications. He will also meet with the Governor of the Reserve Bank of Australia and attend a luncheon hosted by Asialink, an affiliate of the University of Melbourne, to update the participants on the opportunities Hong Kong offers. In addition, he will meet with representatives of Fintech startups to learn more about the latest developments in the area.
 
     Professor Chan will return to Hong Kong in the early morning on November 11.
