ArtSnap mini-festival within New Vision Arts Festival to begin this weekend at Kwai Tsing Theatre (with photos)
******************************************************************************************
The New Vision Arts Festival will launch the ArtSnap mini-festival this Saturday (November 5) to host an array of extraordinary events from local and overseas artists at different corners of the Kwai Tsing Theatre. The mini-festival will be held over two weekends on November 5 and 6 and November 12 and 13.

This weekend's programmes will include "Miranda and Caliban: The Making of a Monster" (in English and Cantonese, with British and Hong Kong sign language and Chinese and English captions) by Birds of Paradise Theatre Company (UK). It is an interactive theatre production inspired by Shakespeare's classic "The Tempest" in which audiences will act as a jury and vote. Another production from the UK is Deborah Pearson's "The Future Show", which will be performed by Hong Kong artists Amy Tam and Alan Wong in Cantonese. Based on Pearson's original concept, the show will see the duo share their unique script about life.

"Sever" is a cinematic concert retelling the story of Guan Yu and Diao Chan with live music blending Chinese opera and electronic sounds. "Pretext Quartet", a dance theatre work by Ivanhoe Lam, features four performers ceaselessly moving between saying and not saying, and starting a conversation with oneself.

Intuition Kobo's "The Missing Link" (in Cantonese) is an interactive theatre production inviting audiences to find the missing link of a murder case with the performer. In "Home Sweet Home", Subject to_change (UK) invites the audience to be miniature house owners and join the community fun.

The above are fee-charging programmes. For details such as the programme schedule and ticket prices, please visit www.newvisionfestival.gov.hk or call 2370 1044. Tickets are now available at URBTIX (www.urbtix.hk). For credit card telephone bookings, please call 2111 5999.

ArtSnap also has free events including "The Megaphone Project" by Madeleine Flynn and Tim Humphrey (Australia), in which attendees will have a blast with megaphones in an interactive sound installation that blends listening, artistic creation and physical play. Daniel Yeung and Kwok's Kung Fu and Dragon Lion Dance Team will perform "The Lion Rocks!", which is an encounter between lion dance masters and choreographers that explores the relationship between traditional and contemporary dance. "Imaginary Festival" by Andy Field (UK) comprises 12 site-specific themed "performances" to inspire viewers to exercise their own creativity in imagining how each production can unfold.

Organised by the Leisure and Cultural Services Department, the New Vision Arts Festival is running from October 21 to November 20 to feature an array of pioneering shows by local and overseas performing groups. Showcasing innovative interdisciplinary collaborations and electrifying new perspectives on the arts, the festival offers new experiences for audiences.
