New tunnel slide in Hong Kong Park opens today (with photos)
************************************************************
The Leisure and Cultural Services Department (LCSD) announced today (November 2) that a new tunnel slide has been installed in Hong Kong Park children’s playground and is opened for public use today.

Modelled on the previous design, the new tunnel slide is about four-metre tall and made of transparent and yellow materials in alternate pattern to allow children to look through the tunnel while playing.

A spokesman for the LCSD said that the original tunnel slide in the park was found damaged and removed upon safety considerations last year. In order to meet public aspirations for the provision of tunnel slides, the department engaged in active discussions with relevant stakeholders and various manufacturers of children’s play equipment on the feasibility and arrangement of in-situ reprovisioning of the tunnel slide. It subsequently decided to order a tailor-made tunnel slide for installation at the original location. The new tunnel slide has obtained the relevant safety certification and is opened today.
