Outdoor concert "Music Beyond Borders" to be held at Hong Kong Cultural Centre Piazza this weekend
******************************************************************************************
Music groups from Italy and Hong Kong will perform in the outdoor concert "Music Beyond Borders" this weekend (November 5 and 6) at 2.30pm at the Hong Kong Cultural Centre Piazza. Admission is free.

The band Kalàscima from Italy innovatively uses a vast array of instruments and percussion from South Italy and from all over the world such as the riq, the darbouka and more to mesh the ancient traditional ritual dance music of Taranta from Salento with electronic music. Its musicians are members of major European folk bands and orchestras including the Orchestra Popolare "La Notte della Taranta".

The local band Shaolin Fez, led by Hong Kong Philharmonic double bassist Samuel Ferrer, is grounded in a combination of classical, jazz and rock musicians, whose music is equally diverse. The group will take audiences on a musical travelogue with visits to Latin America, Italy, China, Arabia, Spain and the US.

"Music Beyond Borders" is jointly presented by the Leisure and Cultural Services Department, the Consulate General of Italy in Hong Kong and the Italian Cultural Institute of Hong Kong in association with Radio Television Hong Kong (RTHK) Radio 4 and RTHK TV 31, and supported by Bellissima Italia and the Puglia Sounds programme of the Regional Government of Puglia. It is also an outdoor programme in support of this year's New Vision Arts Festival.
