SED to attend Sister School Contract Signing Ceremony and Principals' Forum in Guangdong Province

     The Secretary for Education (SED), Mr Eddie Ng Hak-kim, will leave Hong Kong next Thursday evening (November 3) for Guangdong Province, where he will attend the Guangdong-Hong Kong Sister School Contract Signing Ceremony and the Shenzhen-Hong Kong Principals' Forum 2016 on the following day.

     Mr Ng will join leaders from the Office of Hong Kong, Macao and Taiwan Affairs of the Ministry of Education, the Education Department of Guangdong Province and the Shenzhen Municipal Government to officiate at the Guangdong-Hong Kong Sister School Contract Signing Ceremony, witnessing the pairing up of some 70 Hong Kong schools with their counterparts in Guangdong.

     In addition, Mr Ng will also attend the Shenzhen-Hong Kong Principals' Forum 2016, which aims at deepening education exchanges and co-operation among Shenzhen, Hong Kong and Macau as well as enhancing education quality. Over 300 academics and principals of primary and secondary schools from the three places will participate in the forum, with the theme of "Nurturing innovative talents in the era of innovation".

     Officials accompanying Mr Ng on his visit to Guangdong Province will include the Deputy Secretary for Education, Mrs Hong Chan Tsui-wah, and the Administrative Assistant to the SED, Mr Edward Yu. They will return to Hong Kong in the afternoon on November 4.

     During Mr Ng's absence, the Under Secretary for Education, Mr Kevin Yeung, will be the Acting SED.
