CSSA caseload for September

     The overall Comprehensive Social Security Assistance (CSSA) caseload in September showed a drop of 715 cases, representing a decrease of 0.3 per cent compared with that of August, according to the latest CSSA caseload statistics released by the Social Welfare Department today (October 19).

     The total CSSA caseload at the end of September stood at 239 552 (see attached table), with a total of 351 164 recipients.

     Analysed by case nature, low-earnings cases registered a month-to-month decrease of 2.1 per cent to 5 514 cases. Single parent cases and unemployment cases also dropped by 1.0 per cent and 0.6 per cent to 27 549 cases and 14 991 cases respectively. Ill health cases and permanent disability cases showed decreases of 0.3 per cent and 0.2 per cent to 24 346 cases and 17 665 cases respectively.

     Old age cases remained steady at 145 000 cases.
