Special traffic arrangements in Central Harbourfront

     Police will implement crowd safety management measures and special traffic arrangements in Central Harbourfront from October 8  to October 10 to facilitate the holding of Formula E Hong Kong e-Prix.

Crowd safety management measures
--------------------------------

     Three major spectator entrances are located at Central Pier No.9, Edinburgh Place and Tamar Park. Crowd management measures will be implemented to segregate the spectators and members of the public. Members of the public can go to Central and Western District Promenade by using other pavements.

     Members of the public may gain access to Central Pier and Hong Kong Observation Wheel via Man Yiu Street footbridge and the footbridge linking Central Pier No.3, MTR Hong Kong Station and Two International Finance Centre.  One-way flow will be carried out on Man Yiu Street footbridge and members of the public should follow the instructions given by Police officers to gain access to destination.

     Members of the public may use the pavement of Connaught Road Central and Central and Western District Promenade to go to Edinburgh Place, Hong Kong City Hall and Central Government Offices.

     Members of the public are advised to use public transportation and follow the instructions given by Police Officers and take heed of Police notice signs and broadcast at scene.  

     For security reason, passers-by are advised not to stay on the footbridges, pavements, elevated or dangerous positions to watch the race.

     The following special traffic arrangements will be implemented from 1am on October 8 to 6am on October 10:

Road closure
------------

- Eastbound Lung Wo Road between Man Yiu Street and Legislative Council Road;
- Westbound Lung Wo Road between Tim Wa Avenue and Man Yiu Street;
- Yiu Sing Street;
- Man Kwong Street east of Man Yiu Street;
- The roundabout at the junction of Man Kwong Street and Man Yiu Street;
- Southbound Man Yiu Street between Man Kwong Street and a point about 30 metres south of its junction with Lung Wo Road;
- Northbound Man Yiu Street between Lung Wo Road and Man Po Street, except for the western kerbside lane;
- Northbound Man Yiu Street between Man Po Street and Man Kwong Street; and
- Westbound Man Cheung Street between its junction with Man Yiu Street and a point about 120 metres west of the same junction, except for the service road.

Traffic diversion
-----------------

- Vehicles heading for Central Pier must turn to Man Kwong Street near Rumsey Street, vehicles exceeding 7-metre in length cannot enter Man Kwong Street, except for franchised buses or vehicles with permit;
- Vehicles along Man Po Street must turn to Finance Street via the existing U-turn facility:
- Vehicles along Man Cheung Street may access Connaught Road Central via the temporary U-turn facility near MTR Hong Kong Station;
- A section of Chung Kong Road near Shun Tak Centre will be re-routed one-way westbound. Vehicles along Chung Kong Road must turn to Connaught Road Central;
- Vehicles heading to City Hall, People’s Liberation Army Headquarters, Central Government Offices and Chief Executive Office must proceed via Connaught Road Central; while vehicles heading to Legislative Council Building may proceed to Tim Mei Avenue via Connaught Road Central and Lung Wui Road;
- Vehicles from westbound Lung Wui Road must proceed to Connaught Road Central via Fenwick Pier Street flyover, except for those heading for Tim Mei Avenue.

     Drivers should not stop or drive slowly along the road to watch the race to avoid causing danger to other road users. The traffic will be heavily congested during the event. Members of the public should use public transport to attend the venue and not to drive to congested area.

     Any vehicles found illegally parked within the precinct of the special traffic arrangements will be ticketed and towed away without prior warning.     

     Actual implementation of the crowd safety management measures and traffic arrangements will be made depending on traffic and crowd conditions in the areas. Members of the public are advised to exercise tolerance and patience and take heed of instructions of the Police on site.
