Hong Kong Customs seizes suspected cocaine (with photo)

     Hong Kong Customs seized a total of about 3.2 kilograms of suspected cocaine at Macau Ferry Terminal yesterday (October 1). The market value of the drugs was about $3,710,000.

     Customs officers intercepted an incoming male passenger arriving from Macau at Macau Ferry Terminal for Customs clearance yesterday afternoon and found about 3.2kg of suspected cocaine concealed in the false compartments of a suitcase he carried.

     The arrested male, aged 24 and claimed to be kitchen worker, was arrested for suspected trafficking in a dangerous drug. The case is still under investigation.

     Under the Dangerous Drugs Ordinance, trafficking in a dangerous drug is a serious offence. The maximum penalty is life imprisonment and a fine of $5 million.
