A. Traffic arrangements to be implemented to facilitate the following events:
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

1. Flag Raising Ceremony

Expo Drive, Expo Drive Central, Expo Drive East, Road P2 and the section of Convention Avenue eastbound between Fleming Road and Tonnochy Road in Wan Chai will be temporarily closed to all vehicular traffic from 5.30am to 11am on October 1 (except authorised vehicles). The bus terminus, coach parking spaces and pick-up/drop-off area at Expo Drive East will be suspended in phases from about 10pm on September 30. The taxi stand at Expo Drive and part of the taxi stand at Harbour Road westbound opposite to Harbour Centre will also be suspended from about 5.30am and 7.30am respectively on October 1.

2. National Day Fireworks Display

Road closure and traffic diversion will be implemented in phases on Hong Kong Island from 1pm at the Lower Peak Tram Station, Wan Chai, Central, the Peak and the section of Island Eastern Corridor westbound between Victoria Park Road and Man Hong Street and from 7pm in Tsim Sha Tsui and Jordan in Kowloon until the crowd disperses and road closure is lifted.

B.  Public transport services arrangements:
------------------------------------------------

1. Bus and green minibus (GMB) services

In connection to the road closure, some bus and GMB stops will be suspended or relocated. Bus and GMB routes operating in the road closure areas will be temporarily diverted. The services of some bus routes will be suspended or strengthened.

2. MTR service

From 7pm to 11pm, the Island Line will be strengthened with a three-minute headway; from 8pm to 11pm, the Tsuen Wan Line and the Kwun Tong Line will be strengthened with a three-minute and four-minute headway respectively; and the Tseung Kwan O Line will be strengthened with a 4.5-minute headway between North Point Station and Po Lam Station, and 12 minutes between Tiu Keng Leng Station and Lohas Park Station. In addition, the West Rail Line will be strengthened with a four-minute headway from 8.30pm to 11.30pm.

3. Tramways service

Normal holiday service will be operated and frequency of the tram service will be strengthened to meet passenger demand if necessary.

The service of Central to Mid-levels Escalator and Walkway System will be extended to 2am on October 2.

5. Cross-boundary coach service

The terminus of the cross boundary coach service between Wan Chai and Huanggang at the Wan Chai North Temporary Public Transport Interchange will be suspended from about 7.30 pm until the road closure is lifted. A temporary terminus will be provided at Hennessy Road eastbound underneath the O'Brien Road footbridge.

6. Ferry services

Ferry companies will adjust services to facilitate the holding of the celebration events.

Due to extensive road closure, the TD anticipates that the traffic in the vicinity of the affected areas will be significantly congested. Members of the public who plan to go to the affected areas are advised to use public transport services and plan their journey as early as possible. In case of traffic congestion, motorists should exercise tolerance and patience, and follow the instructions of the Police.

The TD and the Police will closely monitor the traffic situation and implement appropriate measures whenever necessary. Motorists and the public are advised to follow the latest traffic news on radio and television.

Details of the special traffic and transport arrangements are available at the TD's website (www.td.gov.hk). For further queries please call 1823.
