Fatal traffic accident in Tsim Sha Tsui

     Police are investigating a fatal traffic accident in Tsim Sha Tsui today (September 29) in which a 26-year-old woman died.

     At about 6.07am, a bus driven by a 40-year-old man was travelling along Nathan Road northbound. When approaching Haiphong Road, it reportedly lost control, rammed into the railings and a traffic sign, and knocked down the 26-year-old female pedestrian.

     The woman was trapped under the bus and rescued by firemen. Sustaining multiple injuries, the woman was rushed to Queen Elizabeth Hospital (QEH) in unconscious state and was certified dead at 7.05am. The bus driver felt unwell and was sent to QEH in conscious state for medical treatment.

     The driver was arrested for dangerous driving causing death and driving under the influence of drugs. He is being detained for enquiries.

     Investigation by the Special Investigation Team of Traffic, Kowloon West is underway.
