Regarding an earlier announcement on a cluster of Vancomycin Resistant Enterococci (VRE) carriers in the Renal Unit, the spokesperson for Pamela Youde Nethersole Eastern Hospital made the following update today (September 26):

In accordance with the prevailing infection control guidelines, the hospital has performed contact tracing and one more 22-year-old male patient was confirmed as a VRE carrier without clinical symptoms.
