Fatal traffic accident in Lantau North

    Police are investigating a fatal traffic accident in Lantau North in the small hours today (September 25) in which a 37-year-old man died.

    At about 0.50am, a medium goods vehicle (MGV) driven by a 45-year-old man was travelling along North Lantau Highway towards Hong Kong International Airport. When approaching near Siu Ho Wan Police Vehicle Pound, it reportedly knocked down the 37-year-old male driver of a tow truck, and collided with the tow truck and the private car which stopped there respectively.

    Sustaining serious head and multiple body injuries, the 37-year-old man was rushed to North Lantau Hospital in unconscious state and was certified dead at 1.30am.

    The MGV driver was arrested for dangerous driving causing death and is being detained for further enquiries.

    Investigation by the Special Investigation Team of Traffic, New Territories South is underway.
