Fatal traffic accident in Mong Kok
     Police are investigating a fatal traffic accident in Mong Kok this morning (September 23) in which an 87-year-old man died.

     At about 7.50am, a private car driven by a 24-year-old man was travelling along Lai Chi Kok Road towards New Territories. When reaching the junction with Shanghai Street, it reportedly knocked down the 87-year-old man who was crossing the road.

     Sustaining head injuries, the male pedestrian was rushed to Queen Elizabeth Hospital in unconscious state and was certified dead at 9.22am.

     The driver was arrested for dangerous driving causing death. He is being detained for further enquiries. 

     Investigation by the Special Investigation Team of Traffic, Kowloon West is underway.
