Government premises allocated for reprovisioning campuses of self-financing post-secondary institutions
******************************************************************************************
The Education Bureau (EDB) announced today (September 22) allocation results of the latest round of the Land Grant Scheme. Two post-secondary self-financing institutions will be allocated two government premises for the reprovisioning of their existing campuses with a view to enhancing the teaching and learning environment of the institutions.

The allocation results of the two government premises are as follows:

Government premises
-------------------------
Prospective operator
-----------------------
The post-secondary college development at Tai Wai MTR Station

Community College of City University

Ex-premises of Po Leung Kuk Wai Yin College in Aberdeen Yew Chung Community College

A spokesman for the EDB said, "On the recommendation of an independent Vetting Committee, the Secretary for Education has decided that the Community College of City University and Yew Chung Community College should be earmarked as the prospective operators for the two government premises to be leased at nominal rent."

The spokesman added, "The Government is committed to providing quality, flexible and diversified study pathways with multiple entry and exit points for secondary school graduates. The allocation of the government premises for reprovisioning purposes demonstrates the Government's support for a sustainable and healthy development of the self-financing post-secondary sector and its determination in enhancing the learning environment for students."

The Government invited applications in February 2016 from non-profit-making education institutions for the operation of self-financing full-time locally accredited programmes at sub-degree level or above. At the close of application on May 13, 2016, a total of 10 institutions had submitted applications.

The Vetting Committee, comprising eight non-officials (including the Chairman) and one official member, made the recommendations after detailed examination of the applicants' education development and site utilisation proposals. The process is fair and competitive. Only applications with the highest quality would be selected.
