HKETONY announces arts fellowship programmes in Yale (with photo)
*****************************************************************
Two emerging Hong Kong artists will have the chance to embark on a residency and study programme at Yale University next year, under the HKETO-NY Arts Fellows of the Yale-China Arts Fellowship programme.

Sponsored by the Hong Kong Economic and Trade Office in New York (HKETONY) for the third year, the programme and recruitment are administered by the Yale-China Association. The names of the two HKETO-NY arts fellows will be announced later this year.

Under the programme, the arts fellows will learn from practicing artists and professors at Yale University while developing a project of their own. To date, the four arts fellows who completed the residency programmes in the past two years are dancer Yang Hao; visual artist Parry Ling; interdisciplinary artist Phoebe Hui and choreographer Cai Ying.

Speaking at an Memorandum of Understanding signing ceremony for the fellowship programme this afternoon (September 21, New York time), the Director of the HKETONY, Mr Steve Barclay, said he hoped the residency and study programme would inspire much of their artistry. It would in turn help enrich and benefit the artistic and cultural scene in Hong Kong.

"This is important as the West Kowloon Cultural District is opening in phases. We need to have the software as much as the hardware. I believe the arts fellows will bring back to our home city a rich repertoire of new ideas and creations," said Mr Barclay.
