Drama Gallery to rerun its debut performance "Haunted Theatre"
**************************************************************
Drama Gallery will rerun its debut performance "Haunted Theatre" in November.

When the then newly founded Drama Gallery performed its first production, "Haunted Theatre", the show received great acclaim. The play received four nominations in the categories of Best Supporting Actor, Best Actress, Best Supporting Actress and Best Make-up and Styling Design in the 10th Hong Kong Drama Awards.

"Haunted Theatre" is an original theatre production with a mysterious and dark tone. Playwright Yu Hon-ting sought to explore the state between life and death and trace anecdotes of people before and after they passed away. He put these together and wrote a story without the boundaries of life.

The story is about the late actress Sue. She is sentimentally attached to her life and her soul refuses to leave the world. Her brother Ah Sai loses his self-identity, and their grandfather is a villain but always takes care of his grandchildren meticulously. They share a home in the basement of an abandoned theatre. Sue brings in lost items from the waste yard every day, making the place smell foul. Attempting to keep Sue in the mortal world, the grandfather and the brother astonishingly turn the gloomy theatre into a spooky haunted house.

Sue's father, who once did not dare to be part of the family, by coincidence returns. He tries to make Sue realise that she is dead. At the same time, Ah Sai's casual girlfriend Blue breaks into the haunted theatre. Sue is enlightened and begins to let go.

Yu Hon-ting is the playwright and director. The main cast includes Gladys Liu, Luther Fung, Chan Suk-yi, Yui Ng and Lau Hiu-wah.

Founded in 1998, Drama Gallery quickly became one of Hong Kong's distinguished professional drama troupes. The company is now financially supported by the Hong Kong Arts Development Council. Drama Gallery founded DG Black Box in 2012, a small theatre in an owned factory building unit. The company is committed to developing original drama works with high standards and nurturing new talent for the drama community.
