Regional Traffic Day of Hong Kong Island

The operation concluded at 7pm and a total of 299 officers from Traffic Hong Kong Island and District Traffic Teams of Eastern, Wan Chai, Central and Western Districts were deployed to enforce traffic regulations at traffic black spots on Hong Kong Island.
A total of 919 FPTs were issued for illegal parking and 174 for other traffic offences.
Statistics revealed that a total of 1,672 traffic accidents involving casualties occurred on Hong Kong Island from January to July 2016, of which 480 cases with pedestrians injured. Among the traffic accidents with pedestrians injured, 41.3 per cent were attributed to the negligence of pedestrians.
