Rio Olympic Games Mainland Olympians delegation starts Hong Kong visit (with photos/video)

     The Rio Olympic Games Mainland Olympians delegation has arrived in Hong Kong today (August 27) to start a three-day visit. 

     Led by the Minister of the General Administration of Sport of China, Mr Liu Peng, the 64-member delegation arrived at the Hong Kong International Airport around noon. The Hong Kong Special Administrative Region Government held a welcoming ceremony at the airport apron to receive the delegation. They were greeted by the Chief Secretary for Administration, Mrs Carrie Lam; the Deputy Director of the Liaison Office of the Central People's Government in the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region, Mr Yang Jian; the Secretary for Home Affairs, Mr Lau Kong-wah; and other guests.

     About 200 students also welcomed the delegation at the ceremony. Their representatives presented bouquets of flowers to the leader of the delegation and athletes.

     The elite athletes will meet the public and stage sports demonstrations during their stay in Hong Kong, enabling the public to see them up close.
