Temporary traffic arrangement at Lion Rock Tunnel on Kowloon-bound side this Saturday
***************************************************************

The Transport Department (TD) today (August 24) reminded members of the public that to facilitate road repair work at the Kowloon exit of the Lion Rock Tunnel, the slow lane of the tunnel from its toll plaza to the Kowloon exit will be closed to all vehicular traffic from 10pm on August 27 (Saturday) to 4am on August 29 (Monday).

Due to the road closure, the TD anticipates that Kowloon-bound traffic at the Lion Rock Tunnel will become congested. Motorists are advised to consider using alternative routes such as Route 8 (Tsing Sha Highway), the Shing Mun Tunnels, Tai Po Road or the Tate's Cairn Tunnel to Kowloon. Motorists should exercise tolerance and patience when passing through the affected road sections. Appropriate traffic signs will be erected on-site to guide motorists.

Commuters taking public transport services are advised to use railway services or bus services via Route 8 (Tsing Sha Highway), the Shing Mun Tunnels, Tai Po Road or the Tate's Cairn Tunnel to Kowloon. They are also advised to plan their journey in advance and allow more travelling time to avoid delay.

The TD and the Police will closely monitor the traffic situation and implement appropriate measures whenever necessary. Motorists and the public are advised to stay alert to the latest traffic news on radio and television.
