Special stamp issue: "A Tribute to Teachers" (with photos)
**********************************************************

Hongkong Post announced today (August 22) that a set of special stamps on the theme of "A Tribute to Teachers", with associated philatelic products, will be released for sale on September 6 (Tuesday).

Through their wit and wisdom, knowledge and inspiration, teachers help mould young minds and nurture responsible individuals for the future. The teacher-student connection is at the heart of learning. To show appreciation for the dedication of the teaching profession, September 10 has been designated as Teachers' Day in Hong Kong. To mark Teachers' Day this year, Hongkong Post is issuing a set of special stamps and a stamp sheetlet to pay tribute to teachers for their care and devotion for students. The stamp issue also encourages students to show appreciation to their teachers for their care and guidance.

Depicting chalk drawings on a blackboard, this set of four stamps and the stamp sheetlet convey five messages on the theme of "A Tribute to Teachers", namely "Nurture and Growth" ($1.70), "Mentoring and Care" ($2.90), "Potential and Confidence" ($3.70), "Dedication and Support" ($5) and "Knowledge and Learning" ($10 stamp sheetlet).

In addition, a set of four postcards will be available for sale at all philatelic offices from tomorrow (August 23). Students past and present can send personal messages of appreciation to their teachers with these cards.

Official First Day Covers will be on sale at $1.20 each at all post offices from tomorrow. The stamps and the associated philatelic products will be displayed at the General Post Office, Tsim Sha Tsui Post Office, Tsuen Wan Post Office, Sha Tin Central Post Office and Tuen Mun Central Post Office from the same day. Advance orders for servicing self-provided covers will be accepted at all philatelic offices from tomorrow to August 29.
