Fatal traffic accident in Chai Wan
     Police are investigating a fatal traffic accident in Chai Wan this morning (August 21) in which an 82-year-old woman died.

     About 10.10am, a taxi driven by a 58-year-old man was turning right into Kut Shing Street from Lee Chung Street. It reportedly knocked down the woman who was crossing the road at the junction of Lee Chung Street and Kut Shing Street.

     Sustaining serious head injuries, the woman was rushed to Eastern Hospital in unconscious state and was certified dead at 1.02pm.

     The driver was arrested for dangerous driving causing grievous bodily harm and is being detained for enquiries.

     Investigation by the Special Investigation Team of Traffic, Hong Kong Island is underway.
