Police are investigating a fatal traffic accident in Sau Mau Ping today (August 21) in which a 79-year-old man died.

     At about 2.00am, a public light bus (PLB) driven by a 71-year-old man was travelling along Chun Wah Road towards Kwun Tong. When approaching near Lok Wah North Estate, it reportedly knocked down the 79-year-old man who was crossing the road.

     Sustaining head injury, the pedestrian was rushed to United Christian Hospital in unconscious state and was certified dead at 2.27am.

     The PLB driver was arrested for dangerous driving causing death. He is being detained for enquiries.

     Investigation by the Special Investigation Team of Traffic, Kowloon East is underway.
