Hong Kong Customs seizes suspected Nimetazepam (Erimin 5) (with photo)

     Hong Kong Customs today (August 17) seized 10 000 tablets of suspected Nimetazepam (Erimin 5) in Lo Wu Control Point. The total market value of the drugs was about $460,000.

     Customs officers intercepted an incoming male passenger at Lo Wu Control Point this afternoon. A total of 10 000 tablets of suspected Nimetazepam were found containing in a recycle bag carried by that passenger. The 20-year-old male passenger was arrested.

     The arrested man will be charged with trafficking in a dangerous drug and appear at the Fanling Magistrates’ Courts tomorrow (August 18).

     Under the Dangerous Drugs Ordinance, trafficking in a dangerous drug is a serious offence.  The maximum penalty is life imprisonment and a fine of $5 million.
