Hong Kong Customs seizes suspected cocaine at the airport (with photo)

     Hong Kong Customs seized about 4 kilograms of suspected cocaine, with a market value of about $4.24 million, at Hong Kong International Airport yesterday (August 11) and arrested an incoming female passenger. 
 
     The arrested female arrived in Hong Kong from Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia, yesterday afternoon. During Customs clearance, Customs officers spotted suspicious X-ray images inside her check-in baggage. Upon thorough examination, four slabs of suspected cocaine weighing about 4 kilograms were found concealed in the false compartments of the baggage.
 
      The arrested female, aged 29 and claiming to be a beautician, was charged with one count of trafficking in a dangerous drug. She will appear at Tsuen Wan Magistrates' Courts tomorrow (August 13).
 
      Under the Dangerous Drugs Ordinance, trafficking in a dangerous drug is a serious offence. The maximum penalty is life imprisonment and a fine of $5 million.
