Fatal traffic accident in Sau Mau Ping

     Police are investigating a fatal traffic accident in Sau Mau Ping today (August 5) in which an 87-year-old man died.

     At about 12.13pm, a medium goods vehicle (MGV) driven by a 43-year-old man was travelling along eastbound Ming Chi Street. When turning right into Hong Ning Road, it reportedly knocked down the 87-year-old man who was crossing the road.

     Sustaining head injuries, the pedestrian was rushed to Queen Elizabeth Hospital in unconscious state and was certified dead at 5.11pm.

     The MGV driver was arrested for dangerous driving causing death. He has been released on bail pending further enquiries and is required to report back to Police in mid-August.

     Investigation by the Special Investigation Team of Traffic, Kowloon East is underway.
