DH endorses batch recall of Cinotec Cream 0.005% and 0.0125% (with photos)

Based on intelligence, samples from various batches of Cinotec Cream 0.005%, 0.0125% and 0.025% were collected for analysis. Upon testing by the Government Laboratory, samples of the above five batches were found to have content of the active ingredient lower than the labelled claim. Medipharma is recalling the above five batches of pharmaceutical products from the market and the causes of the quality issue are under investigation.
The DH's investigation is continuing.
Cinotec Cream contains a Part 1 poison and steroid, fluocinolone acetonide, and is a prescription medicine for the treatment of eczema and allergic skin disorders. According to Medipharma, the above batches have been supplied to the Hospital Authority, DH clinics, private doctors and local pharmacies.
Medipharma has set up a hotline (2523 3670) for related enquiries.
"So far, we have not received any adverse reaction reports in connection with the pharmaceutical products concerned. We will closely monitor the recall," a spokesman for the DH said.
"Members of the public who have used the above pharmaceutical products should consult their healthcare professionals if in doubt or when symptoms persist," the spokesman advised.
