Government departments prepared for influence of Typhoon Nida

     The HKSAR Government has activated the Tier 3 Emergency Response System.  All emergency response departments are well prepared to cope with emergency situations under the influence of Typhoon Nida.

     The Security Bureau has activated the Emergency Monitoring and Support Centre (EMSC) tonight (August 1) to co-ordinate the resources and emergency response operations from various departments.

     Apart from the activation of EMSC, Police Headquarters Command and Control Centre and Fire Services Communication Centre, the emergency control centres of various departments are also activated, including:

* Emergency Transport Co-ordination Centre of Transport Department
* Combined Information Centre of Information Services Department
* Marine Department Maritime Rescue Co-ordination Centre
* Office of the Communications Authority Emergency Response System
* Highways Department Emergency Control Centre
* Electrical and Mechanical Services Department Co-ordination Office
* Drainage Services Department Emergency Control Centres
* Airport Authority Airport Emergency Control Centre
* Social Welfare Department Emergency Co-ordination Centre
* Home Affairs Department Emergency Co-ordination Centres
* Civil Aid Service Central Command Centre
* Civil Engineering and Development Department Emergency Control Centre
* Buildings Department Emergency Control Centre
* Emergency Control Centre of Slope Maintenance Section of Lands Department
* Auxiliary Medical Service Control Room

     The Government will continue to closely monitor the situation and take necessary measures as appropriate to reduce the influence of the typhoon in Hong Kong.
